Snowcast: Snowy conditions through February
If you like snow, you’re going to love the next week in Colorado.
There will be three main storms, and it’s possible that we’ll see snow every day between now and March 1.
The first storm passed to the south of the Colorado ski resorts on Wednesday night and now is bringing heavy snow to the eastern plains.
However, wraparound moisture is extending back to the north and west of the storm, and this is bringing snow to most of the state’s mountain areas (as well as into the eastern foothills and urban areas).
This is a long-duration storm, with snow potentially falling through the day on Thursday and Friday.
After a quick break in the snow Friday night and Saturday morning, a very strong storm is poised to make a direct hit on the state Saturday night.
This storm will bring a strong cold front, a good wind direction (from the west and northwest) and plenty of moisture to — hopefully — make Sunday a powder day for all areas except perhaps the southern San Juan mountains.
Adjust your weekend schedule accordingly!
There will be another break in the snow on Monday, but then a third storm should hit the state Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s a bit too far away for specifics, but this could be another equal-opportunity type of storm with most of the state seeing snow.
Hooray for the end of February!
