The downtown surveillance cameras led to the arrest last week of a man on suspicion of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, Colorado Springs police said Monday.

About 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, officers were monitoring the cameras and saw a “known individual” near the Acacia Park playground with a large baggie of what they believed to be marijuana. Officers went downtown and arrested David Frederick, who was allegedly carrying nearly a ¼-pound of marijuana, police said.

The Police Department “would like to remind citizens that the passing of Amendment 64 allows an individual 21 years of age or older to possess less than one ounce of marijuana. (But it does) not allow the sale or use of marijuana in public,” police said.
