On Tuesday, the final legislative committees were established, when Senate Minority Leader Bill Cadman announced his picks for the 10 state Senate committees.

Two of the other committee appointment lists were also overseen by Colorado Springs legislators — Democratic Senate President John Morse and Republican House Minority Leader Mark Waller.

There are 11 additional legislators who represent parts of El Paso County, and they sit on 10 different House and Senate committees.

Sen. Kent Lambert, R-Colorado Springs, is also on the Joint Budget Committee, which is separate from the regular Legislature and does not hear bills.

Lambert was also appointed to the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Both Sen.-elect Owen Hill, R-Colorado Springs, and Sen. Kevin Grantham, R-Canon City (whose district includes a large portion of El Paso County) will be the only two Republicans on the Senate Finance Committee.

Hill also will also sit on the Senate Education Committee.

In the House, there are seven Republican El Paso County legislators and two Colorado Springs Democrats on the 11 House committees.

Rep. Pete Lee, D-Colorado Springs, will arguably be the most powerful of the Colorado Springs committee members, as vice chair of the House Judiciary Committee. Lee will also serve on the House Transportation Committee.

Rep. Tony Exum, D-Colorado Springs, will serve on the House Business, Labor and Economic and Workforce Development Committee.

Rep.-elect Dan Nordberg, R-Colorado Springs, was also assigned to the House Business, Labor and Economic and Workforce Development Committee, as well as the House State, Veterans and Military Affairs Committee.

Rep.-elect Lois Landgraf, R-Fountain, will be on both the House Education and the House Health, Insurance and Environment committees.

Rep. Janak Joshi, R-Colorado Springs, will be on the House Finance and the House Public Health Care and Human Services committees.

Rep. Amy Stephens, R-Monument, will also be on the House Public Health Care and Human Services Committee.

Last but certainly not least is Rep. Bob Gardner, R-Colorado Springs, who will sit on three committees: the House Local Government, the House Judiciary and the House Appropriations committees.
