Man killed in Powers Boulevard rollover
A man died Sunday evening when his SUV crashed and rolled on Powers Boulevard, just south of Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs police said.
The single-vehicle crash happened at just before 7:30 p.m. When police arrived at the scene of the accident, they found that the driver was thrown from the vehicle. The man, who officers said was found wedged under the vehicle’s hood, was dead when police arrived. There were no other people in the vehicle.
The man’s name was not released.
Witnesses told police the SUV had been speeding before the crash. Police said speed is likely a major factor in the crash, but it’s not known if alcohol or drugs were involved.
Due to the investigation, southbound Powers Boulevard was limited to one lane for several hours.
