The Chris Robinson Brotherhood
New to the scene, The Chris Robinson Brotherhood aims to send you on a trip back to the cosmic days of rock and roll. They call their sound psychedelic folk blues pie, but listeners will easily connect the dots to Grateful Dead and Cream. “It’s not a psych band because you have a Prince Valiant haircut and wear Beatle boots,” Robinson said. “It’s psych because that’s where our heads are. We want to make music that blossoms. We want to make music that sounds cosmic.”Top tune: “Rosalee” off the 2012 album “Big Moon Ritual”Details: 8 p.m. Friday, The Black Sheep, 2106 E. Platte Ave., $20 in advance or $25 the day of the show, 227-7625, coloradospringslivemusic.net
Firefall
This Boulder band was formed in 1974 by former member Rick Roberts and Manitou Springs’ Jock Bartley. Firefall’s signature easy-listening, country-rock sound developed several Billboard hits, including “You Are the Woman” and “Strange Way.” The band’s relaxed, well-crafted harmonies helped define a decade with its slow jam mojo. Firefall will perform Roberts’ new original song “Another Fires Burning,” which pays tribute to the Waldo Canyon fire relief efforts.Top tune: “Just Remember I Love You” off the 1976 album “You Are the Woman”Details: 7 p.m. Sunday, Stargazers Theatre & Event Center, $20 or $25 the day of the show, 476-2200, stargazerstheatre.com
Rehab
Both in name and in content, this band was born from addiction. Danny Alexander and Jason Brooks, both recovering alcoholics and drug addicts, met at a local rehab facility and connected over their love of music. They formed the band in 1998 and have recorded seven albums. Sounding a bit like Uncle Kracker, Rehab is a bristling mash-up of rap and Southern rock. They have worked with Hank Williams Jr. and toured with Kid Rock and Linkin Park.Top tune: “Bartender Song (Sittin’ at a Bar)” off the 2008 re-released album “Graffiti the World”Details: 8 p.m. Thursday, The Black Sheep, 2106 E.
