Wildlife officers shoot mountain lion, scare another off
Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers shot one mountain lion and scared off another after the big cats wandered into Boulder on Monday night.
One mountain lion was spotted at about 8 p.m. in a backyard hot tub area, according to Jennifer Churchill, a spokeswoman with Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
Rangers tried to trap the cat, but decided to scare it away as night fell.
A second mountain lion was found later Monday after it killed a house cat. Rangers said it showed no fear as they walked within 10 feet of it.
Due to its location near homes and the cougar’s lack of fear toward humans, rangers decided to put it down.
