Blasting caps found on Palmer Park trail

Colorado Springs police removed what they say were explosive blasting caps on a trail in Palmer Park Sunday afternoon.

The devices were reported to police by a hiker who spotted them about 4 p.m. They were examined by bomb technicians who confirmed they were commercial grade blasting caps that had been exposed to the elements for a long period of time. The bomb technicians removed the caps and rendered them safe. Police continue to investigate how the caps made it to the trail in the first place.
