Man suspected in carjacking arrested in liquor store robberies
A man who was in custody in a carjacking was linked to several liquor store robberies, Colorado Springs police said Wednesday.
Brett Harris, 33, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of robbing two liquor stores several times from January through March.
Harris is accused of robbing Lake Liquors on South Union Boulevard three times and JW liquor on South Hancock Avenue once, police said. Police believed the robberies were committed by the same person when they were first reported but the department did not have a suspect until July 12, when Harris was arrested on suspicion of carjacking.
Harris allegedly threatened the victim with a gun during the July 12 carjacking in the 2900 block of Galley Road and stole the victim’s gold Ford Taurus.
Police said Harris would not stop for officers and was chased to a field near the intersection of Fountain Boulevard and Aeroplaza Drive, where he left the vehicle and was taken into custody.
