LINDA’S PICK: Black Forest picnic at the Monastery

This is a rare opportunity for families to enjoy the peace of Benet Hill Monastery and Benedictine Spirituality Center in the Pines, a secluded Black Forest setting. “Picnic in the Pines,” 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday at 3190 Benet Lane, features music by New Horizons Combo Band, football toss with former Denver Bronco Randy Gradishar, basketball hoops with former Denver Nugget Bill Hanzlik, a pig roast, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo Mobile, inflatables and more. It’s a benefit for the ministry’s community programs. Tickets are $25 or $100 for a household, children under 5 free; benethillmonastery.org. Active-duty military receive 20- percent discount.
