Infant in NH burned in washing machine accident

MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — A 5-month-old baby boy has suffered second-degree burns after falling into a washing machine.

Police say the accident happened around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday as one of the baby’s parents was changing him on top of a changing table next to the family’s washing machine.

WMUR-TV reports (http://bit.ly/NfJQKD) that the parent got distracted and the baby wiggled into the open washing machine which was filling with water.

Authorities estimate the temperature was 150 degrees.

The baby was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital by medical helicopter.

Officials say the incident appears to be an accident and that they are not considering criminal charges.
