Tulowitzki surgery goes well, will remain sidelined 6-8 weeks
PHILADELPHIA — Troy Tulowitzki underwent successful surgery to remove scar tissue irritating a nerve on his left groin today in Philadelphia. No other issues were discovered. Conservative estimates call for a six-week absence, but the Rockies are bracing for eight weeks.
Tulowitzki is already walking following the procedure. He is expected to rest for three weeks, followed by light baseball activity.
The two-time all-star is hitting .287 with eight home runs, 27 RBIs and a .360 on-base percentage. After an ugly first month fielding, when his range was compromised by multiple leg injuries and he slumped throwing, Tulowitzki, 27, settled down defensively. He has won consecutive Gold Gloves and Silver Slugger awards.
