Heavy rain lashed Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon as Thunderstorms rolled in from the mountains.

Temperatures topped out at 75 degrees in the city before the afternoon thunderstorms hit, dumping a downpour on events including Springs Spree. Forecasters said some areas got dime-sized hail from the storm, which was quickly losing strength and moving east.

Tonight is forecast to be partly cloudy with a low around 53 degrees, which is a nice cool-down before the scorching 92 degree temperatures hit on Father’s Day.

The hot weather Sunday will have firefighters on high alert.

There are fire restrictions in both Colorado Springs and Pueblo, with a high danger of fire breaking out in the dry forests. With 10 to 20 mph breezes, fires could spread quickly.

At the scene of the Arkansas Fire by Lake George: “Firefighters are going to continue to stay there for some time,” said Dawn Sanchez, a U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman. “Some of the crews have been released, but others are going to continue to mop up hot spots.”
