Toddler shooting likely accidental, police say

A Colorado Springs police investigation into the shooting of a 2-year-old boy Tuesday evening suggests that it was unintentional, police said Thursday. As a result, no arrests have been made.

The toddler was shot through the arm in the Dove Tree Apartment complex on Lionstone Drive, with the bullet grazing his chest. He was taken to the hospital Tuesday in serious condition but police reported Wednesday that he was making a quick recovery.

Police said the boy’s parents and another adult were in the apartment at the time. No names have been released.

The District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the case to determine if any charges will be filed.
