CU-Boulder expecting thousands for Sunday’s solar eclipse
Folsom Field may be packed Sunday, but it’s not a concert or sporting event drawing the crowds. Rather, it’s a solar eclipse.
And, if sales of special eye protection sunglasses are any indication, lots of people will be gathering. Fiske Planetarium and McGuckin Hardware sold out of their stock of 9,000 pairs of glasses earlier in the week, said Doug Duncan, planetarium director. They were $2 a pair.
“A lot of people want to see this,” Duncan said. “Boulder is much more of a center of this eclipse than Denver.”
Duncan said he’s trying to order more of the glasses and is hoping to have a couple thousand available for sale at Folsom on Sunday.
Folsom Field will open at 5:30 p.m. for eclipse watching. The eclipse starts at 6:22 p.m., and the maximum eclipse will be at 7:30 p.m.
