The man shot and killed by Englewood police in a Walgreens parking lot was Jeremiah Barnum, a white supremacist convicted in the murder of a West African immigrant Oumar Dia in 1997, law enforcement sources confirmed Friday morning to The Denver Post.

Barnum had been sentenced to 12 years in prison as part of an plea agreement to being an accessory to murder.

It was not immediately clear how recently he was released from prison.
