Witness in Darrent Williams case likely to enter witness protection

It’s possible that Daniel Harris will never again see his mother, his sisters or any other family members.

But instead of a life sentence, he is getting a new life.

The former drug dealer will probably spend the rest of his days in federal witness protection because he testified in two high-profile murder cases that put members of a notorious Denver street gang in prison.

At his sentencing Monday for trafficking in crack cocaine, Harris, 40, also known as “Ponytail” and “The Rican,” told Chief U.S. District Judge Wiley Daniel that he changed his life for the better when he picked up the phone and told police what he knew about the murder of Denver Broncos player Darrent Williams.
