Colorado Springs firefighters Steven Garcia and Steve Winters worked to extinguish a fire Tuesday that destroyed the engine compartment of a truck parked in a University of Colorado at Colorado Springs lot on North Nevada Avenue.

The driver of the truck, Jeff Barham, had parked the Wheaton Van Lines moving truck and shut the engine off to cross Nevada and have lunch with his children at the University Village Colorado shopping center.

After lunch he said he returned to his truck to see firefighters dousing the last of the flames.

There was no damage to the trailer attached to the truck or the trailer’s contents. The cause of the engine fire is under investigation.
