Lewis-Palmer, Cheyenne Mountain win Metro League swimming titles
Cheyenne Mountain won the 4A title at Saturday’s Colorado Springs Metro League meet.The Indians got two wins from Marshall McCann (200-yard freestyle, 100 backstroke), and their depth gave them and edge over Air Academy.
The competitive race could be a preview of next week’s state meet in Grand Junction.
“We are so strong — Coronado, Air Academy, Discovery Canyon and Cheyenne — we’re just going to rock everyone’s socks off there,” Indians coach Kate Doane said.
4A Swimmer of the Year Michael Carricato won the 500 free for Discovery Canyon.
On the 5A side, Lewis-Palmer took the team title after five individual wins and victories in all three relays. 5A Swimmer of the Year Bryan Bonack won the 200 individual medley and helped the Rangers win the 200 medley and 400 free relays.
