FORT COLLINS – Palmer diver Amanda Jennings made some history Saturday at the Class 5A state meet. But no one knows how much.

The senior, in her second straight state appearance, advanced to the finals for the first time. No area coaches could remember the last time Palmer had a competitor, let alone a diver, in the finals.

Jennings was 10th after prelims and finished 11th, giving the Terrors six points and 29th place (out of 31) in the team race.

And she’s not done diving. She’ll compete for Division-II Mesa State while studying to become a physical therapist.

Speaking of college swimming, Jennings rolled with an odd question from The Gazette about attempting a triple lindy – the dive that uses three levels and made famous by Rodney Dangerfield’s character in the 1986 movie “Back to School.”

“Yeah I know it,” Jennings said. “From board to board to board. … I would (attempt it) if I had the chance.”

Au revoirRampart sophomore exchange student Lucile Chevalier wrapped up her high school swimming experience by finishing 13th in the 200-yard freestyle and 12th in the 100 free.

She will continue to swim club before going back to her native France at the end of the school year.
