Tulo for life. It has a nice ring to it after the Rockies pulled off a bold double play with their franchise shortstop and top free-agent pitcher Monday.

Colorado has signed Troy Tulowitzki to a seven-year, $134 million extension that will carry him through the 2020 season, according to a source with direct knowledge of the negotiations.

The Rockies have also agreed in principle on a deal that secures Jorge De La Rosa’s return, pending a physical. It is a two-year, $21.5 million contract with a player option that, if exercised, guarantees De La Rosa $32 million. If the left-hander forgoes free agency and exercises the option, the Rockies receive a fourth-year club option for $11 million.

A press conference is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon to announce the deals.
