Police searching for driver in hit-and-run

Two people were injured Thursday night after their car was hit by a red-light runner who then fled the scene on foot.

Police are searching for the driver of a car that was westbound on Vickers Drive about 10:15 p.m. and ran the red light at Academy Boulevard, striking a southbound car.

The driver ran from the scene, and when police found the passenger of that car at a nearby restaurant, the person claimed not to have known the driver of the car he was riding in, police said.

Two passengers from the car that was hit were taken to Penrose Hospital with minor injuries.

Police impounded the car that caused the crash and are still searching for the driver.

UPDATE: Highway 115 open again

Northbound lanes of Highway 115 are now open again after being closed this morning following a crash in which a semi-truck jack-knifed.

There are no injuries reported in the crash, about 5 miles south of South Academy Boulevard, according to State Patrol.

Lift ticket nears $100

TELLURIDE (AP) — Could Telluride Ski Resort have the priciest Colorado lift ticket this season?

The resort’s website says it plans to sell peak season, single-day adult lift tickets for $98 at the window this winter.

That equals the top price at Vail and Beaver Creek last season. Those resorts haven’t said what peak prices will be this season. Aspen’s peak last season was $96.

Steele’s ‘Fire Pelosi’ tour in Pueblo

PUEBLO (AP) — Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele will be in Pueblo Friday to rally GOP voters during his national “Fire Pelosi” bus tour.

The stop will be the second day of Steele’s tour through Colorado before he heads to New Mexico. Republican congressional candidate Scott Tipton is expected to join Steele in Pueblo, along with other GOP challengers.Thieves take weapons from Bent’s Old Fort

DENVER (AP) — The National Park Service says burglars stole buffalo hides and historical weapons from two historic sites in southeastern Colorado this week.

Spokesman Rick Wallner says thieves broke locks at Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site near La Junta and stole weapons valued at $9,000.

Cash and bison hides were stolen from the Boggsville Historic Site south of Las Animas.
