It is 87 degrees outside, meaning Colorado Springs has broken the previous record temperature for September 28 set at 85 degrees in 1931, 1981 and 1998.

At 2 p.m., the thermometer teetered just below the previous record at 84.9 degrees but set the new record by 3 p.m.

Denver also set a record – the thermometer climbed to 90 degrees at 1:57 p.m., breaking the previous record of 89 that was set in 1994, according to the Denver Post.
