The Rockies will place infielder Clint Barmes on the bereavement list today, allowing him to leave the team to spend time with an ailing family member in Indiana.

Barmes is expected to rejoin the team Monday in San Francisco, according to his agent Barry Meister.

The Rockies will reinforce their bullpen today prior to their critical home series against the Dodgers, adding Samuel Deduno and Franklin Morales. Deduno will take Manuel Corpas’ spot, serving as a longman. An MRI on Corpas’ right elbow will be read today to determine whether he needs ligament or flexor tendon surgery. He was hurt during the Rockies’ 12-10 win Wednesday over the Braves, their fourth consecutive victory.

Hawpe heads to AL

Brad Hawpe will sign with the Tampa Bay Rays today, agent Dan Horwits confirmed. Hawpe, who can play outfield, first base and DH, attracted interest from the Rangers, Padres and Red Sox. Tampa Bay has been looking to add a bat, and figured that Manny Ramirez would be available to them on a waiver claim.

The Rockies will be responsible for the $2 million remaining on Hawpe’s contract, less any salary he draws from the Rays.
