Man suspected in carjacking arrested in northeast Springs

Allen Ernest Heinze, 31, was arrested Wednesday night on suspicion of carjacking two vehicles and attempting to steal a third, an sequence of events that sent police on a chase through much of northeastern Colorado Springs

Heinze allegedly threatened the driver of the a van with a weapon before stealing the vehicle from the area of Academy Boulevard and Dominion Way around 8:40 p.m.

“He had some type of a weapon,” CSPD spokesman Sgt. Steve Noblitt said.

The driver is an at-risk adult who was taken to an area hospital for evaluation. The extent of his injuries is not know.

Reports indicate Heinze drove the van 200 yards before ramming a white BMW and carjacking it. He eventually crashed the BMW near Powers Boulevard and Woodmen Road, attempted to carjack a third vehicle and fled on foot.

Police surrounded the area and eventually caught Heinze.

Heinze faces multiple charges, including a felony aggravated robbery of an at-risk adult, which means the person is either 60 years or older or 18 years or older with a disability.

Heinze had multiple outstanding warrants at the time of his arrest.
