The brass statue of a little girl pulling a dog in a wagon stolen from the front of the Coldwell Banker Building in Woodland Park wasn’t priceless.

In fact, a man paid $24,000 for a photograph of his daughter to be recreated in metal.

Total amount the thief or thieves got from a Colorado Springs scrap yard for two-thirds of the statue: $134.40.

The three piece work of art — the little girl, the dog and the wagon — was taken sometime in the last week, though the timeline of when the victim told investigators it was last seen and when the scrap yard bought the girl and the dog doesn’t match up, according to Sgt. Tom Kinney with the Woodland Park Police Department.

The wagon is still missing.

Authorities do not have any suspects in the case, Kinney said.

Kinney has heard from at least two other victims of personal metal theft since the story of the statue theft came out. The Cave of the Winds had a bronze plaque stolen and a Colorado Springs resident had bronze sculptures stolen from his front yard, Kinney said.

Authorities are investigating whether there’s a link between the thefts.
