The Sky Sox scored twice in the top of the eighth inning Monday to break a tie and take the lead. Unfortunately, they had to play the bottom of the inning.

Fresno put together three runs on five hits off Esmil Rogers and Andrew Johnston to beat Colorado Springs 4-3 in the Pacific Coast League.

The Sky Sox wasted a decent start by Rogers (three runs on nine hits in seven innings) and RBI singles by Travis Metcalf and Chris Frey in the eighth. Brett Pill hit a sacrifice fly with one out, and Jesus Guzman’s two-out double won it for the Grizzlies.

Brad Eldred had three hits, including his 24th home run of the season, and scored twice to lead the Sky Sox. Frey and Matt Miller had two hits apiece.
