A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the return of six antique wagon wheels stolen last week from the Hornbek Homestead at the Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument.

Bandits made off with the wagon wheels Thursday night.

The Friends of the Florissant Fossil Beds is offering the reward.

Two wheels damaged during the heist remained at the scene of the crime. The wagons also were damaged.

The homestead acquired the wagons in 1976 as part of the restoration by the National Park Service. One wagon is from the original homestead property now occupied by the national monument.
