The man shot to death inside a south central Colorado Springs home last week has been identified as 20-year-old Ronald Raymon Gutierrez Jr., and his death ruled the city’s eighth homicide this year.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has yet to rule if the May 6 shooting was justified.

According to police, Gutierrez came to the home in the 300 block of East Las Vegas Street with 19-year-old Ryan Santistevan. The two were allowed in by the homeowner, whose name has not been released, and there was a fight, in which Gutierrez was shot and killed. The homeowner was not arrested because police say there was evidence he feared for his life when he� fired his gun.

Santistevan fled with 22-year-old Felicia Cruz, who was waiting in a car outside. The two were found a short time later at the intersection of Cimarron Street and Nevada Avenue.

Santistevan was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, in connection with the incident, and also an unrelated previous domestic violence incident. � Cruz was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant and police say she has not been charged with connection to the shooting.
