4-year-old hit by car suffers serious injuries

A 4-year-old hit by a car on Custer Avenue this afternoon was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The boy ran out from behind two parked cars in front of a 1992 Jeep Cherokee about 1:30 p.m. in a neighborhood south of Patty Jewett Golf Course, police said. The 46-year-old driver, whose name has not been released, swerved but couldn’t avoid hitting the child.

The boy was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover, police said.

Colorado Springs Police do not believe speed, alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
