Man killed in Saturday motorcycle crash identified
A man killed Saturday when his motorcycle crashed on Highway 24 near the Waldo Canyon Trailhead has been identified by the Colorado State Patrol as 52-year-old Hoyt Kemmerer of Woodland Park.
Kemmerer was not wearing a helmet when he lost control of his 2008 Harley Davidson on westbound U.S. 24, about four miles west of Manitou Springs. He was taken to Penrose-St. Francis Hospital, where he later died.
Speed, alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors in the crash, according to State Patrol.
California state Sen. Christine Kehoe, D-San Diego, was congratulated by Assemblyman Isadore Hall, D-Compton, after the Legislature approved her resolution urging the federal government to end its “don’t ask, don”t tell” policy on gays in the military in Sacramento earlier this month.
