The Julie Penrose Fountain at America the Beautiful Park will flow again this summer, despite two consecutive years of no funding from the city of Colorado Springs.

Kristen Downs, who is leading the Friends of the Julie Penrose Fountain group, said today that she secured the $25,000 needed to keep the fountain running.

“I’m so excited,” she said.

The fountain will be on for the first time this year noon to 2 p.m. Sunday, she said.
