Pikes Peak Library District’s East Library, 5550 N. Union Blvd., will resume regular hours at 3 p.m. Thursday.

The library branch has had reduced hours and services since May 3, while staff and volunteers tagged 160,000 items as part of the installation of a $1.8 million radio-frequency identification system for the district’s collection. District officials initially scheduledf the branch to remain virtually closed until Sunday but finished the tagging early.

Penrose Library, 20 N. Cascade Ave., will have very limited hours and services May 17-28 while 170,000 items are tagged. The branch will be open 3-7 p.m. May 18-20 and May 24-27; and 3-6 p.m. May 21-22 and May 28. During those hours, patrons will be able to pick up holds and also check out a limited selection of children’s books and DVDs, adult DVDs, some new fiction and rapid-read and rapid-view materials.  Outside book drops will remain open.
