Colorado Springs police on Thursday arrested the seventh and final suspect in the killing of a Pueblo man in December.

Matthew Barnes, 30, was arrested about 8:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Sage Street on suspicion of burglary, aggravated robbery with an attempt to kill, robbery and false information to a pawn broker, all felonies.

Barnes, who also goes by the name Matthew Green, was also wanted for failing to register as a sex offender in El Paso County.

Barnes has two felony convictions in Brevard County, Fla., — for lewd and lascivious conduct with a child and failing to register as a sex offender. He was released from prison in October. He moved to El Paso County after his release and initially complied with the requirement to register as a sex offender. Barnes failed to renew his registration in November, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said in December.

“We’re talking to him. We’re not saying much more than that at this point,” Sheriff Kirk Taylor told the Pueblo Chieftain.

There is a gag order in the case, so authorities will not offer much explanation of Barnes’ role, said Deputy Laurie Kilpatrick, Pueblo Sheriff’s spokeswoman.

Robert Piserchio’s burned body was found in his home on Dec. 10. An autopsy determined he had been stabbed and bludgeoned. Authorities have said he was killed during a home invasion in the upscale Stonemoor Hills neighborhood.

Previously arrested are Aaron Wilkerson, 25; Acacia Lyndarr, 31; Brandon Armijo, 26; Elizabeth Ann Abeyta, 39; Karen DePierre, 40; and Sheena Sann Baker, 47.

Piserchio was the brother-in-law of Fountain Police Chief Dan Corsentino, the former longtime Pueblo County sheriff.
