Dog dies in early morning car crash
A driver was injured and his dog killed early today when the man crashed his car into a tree.
The dog died at the scene of the 4:37 a.m. crash at 930 N. Union Blvd.
“The dog was apparently riding in the front seat of the car,” Colorado Springs Fire Department Lt. JJ Halsey said.
“The Fire Department removed the dog and placed it in a blanket.”
The driver, a man around 20, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, Halsey said. He was in stable condition and was taken to a hospital for leg injuries.
The man’s name and cause of the crash was not released.
Halsey said the dog might have been a pit bull.
