Fort Carson soldier dies of noncombat-related injuries in Iraq

A 28-year-old Fort Carson soldier died Sunday in Annassar, Iraq, of injuries from a noncombat-related incident, the Department of Defense announced Wednesday night.

Pfc. Charlie C. Antonio, of Kahului, Hawaii, was assigned to Fort Carson’s 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. He had been in the Army just more than a year and deployed to Iraq for only a month.

Antonio is Fort Carson’s 256th casualty in Iraq.
