Man killed in Sunday crash identified

The man killed after crashing his car into a tree early Sunday has been identified as 23-year-old Jeremy Pierce of Colorado Springs.

According to Colorado Springs Police, the crash happened about 1:20 a.m. in the 4700 block of North Union Boulevard. Police say Pierce was headed north on the street when his car drove over the center median, crossed over three southbound lanes and hit a tree head-on. He was taken to a hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Toxicology results are pending, but police said alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash.
