Three vehicles were destroyed by fire early today at Perkins Motor Co.

Colorado Springs Fire Department spokesman Lt. Mike Smaldino said flames were intense when crews arrived at the dealership about 3 a.m.

“They thought the building was on fire,” Smaldino said. “They found two of the service carts and one pickup truck all fully involved.”

The vehicles were behind the building, not in a sales area.

Smaldino said the cause is unknown. There was no damage to the dealership at 1205 Motor City Drive.

A Perkins sales manager contacted by phone Saturday said the case was under investigation and would not comment further.
