Police: Man arrested in drug case, his infant daughter in tow
A man was arrested Wednesday after taking a marijuana pipe and his 14-month-old daughter to a drug deal along with an armed passenger, police said.
About 11 a.m., four people in two cars delivered an ounce of cocaine to an undercover detective in the parking lot of the McDonald’s at 535 Airport Creek Point.
David Arthur, 22, who was driving one of the cars, had his infant in the back seat. His passenger, Jeremy Madrid, had a loaded .25-caliber handgun, police said.
Arthur was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and distribution of a drug. Madrid was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and carrying a concealed weapon.
The occupants of the other car, Jacob Paladino, 20, and Joshua Morgan, 20 were arrested on suspicion of distribution.
A subsequent search of Paladino’s home, 335 Vehr Drive, resulted in the seizure of 77.3 grams of marijuana and more than $1,000, police said.
A search at 1413 Clemson Drive yielded the arrest of Jessie Anaya, 26, on suspicion of conspiracy to distribute, and Tammy Arellano, 42, wanted on three unrelated felony and two unrelated misdemeanor warrants.
In all, detectives seized 81 grams of cocaine valued at $8,100, 165 grams of marijuana valued at $824, 14 marijuana plants valued at $14,000, $4,753 in U.S. currency, three guns and two cars.
It was not immediately clear where police took the child after Arthur’s arrest.
UPDATE: Police contacted a family member who took custody of the child after Arthur’s arrest, said Lt. David Whitlock, police spokesman.
