Air Force junior forward Tom Fow’s work to diversify his offensive game is beginning to pay dividends.

Arguably the best pure shooter on the Falcons’ roster, Fow found fewer and fewer opportunities to launch long-range shots as the Mountain West Conference season progressed and opponents began to guard him closely along the 3-point arc.

So Fow began working on faking the 3 and either driving or taking a dribble and then pulling up for mid-range jumpers. Both skills were on display in Tuesday night’s 58-49 loss to Wyoming.

Fow made 3-of-7 3-pointers but scored eight points inside the 3-point arc and from the line to give him a game-high 17.

Late in the game Fow cut to the hoop, took a pass from Evan Washington and threw down a two-handed jam.

Two possessions later he got a Wyoming player to bite on a pump fake, took one dribble and drained a 15-foot jumper.

The young Cowboys start three sophomores and a freshman, and that doesn’t include their top player — sophomore forward Afam Muojeke, who suffered a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 20 against BYU.
