Man arrested in theft of dead airman’s effects
One man has been arrested, and one more is sought in connection with the theft of a dead airman’s effects from his widow’s rental car outside an east-side restaurant.
Denard Thompson, 29, is suspected of theft by receiving, first-degree criminal trespass and conspiracy to commit felony theft. El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for Dwain Boyd, 22, who is suspected of felony theft, first-degree criminal trespass and conspiracy.
On Feb. 9, Tiffany Smith was inside the Golden Corral, at 1970 Waynoka Drive, near Powers Boulevard. When she went out, she discovered that the window of her rental car had been smashed, and two laptops, a digital camera, a cell phone, a red Garmin wristwatch with a black band and dog tags of Tiffany Smith’s late husband, Bradley R. Smith, were all gone.
Tiffany Smith was in Colorado Springs for her husband’s memorial service at Fort Carson.
