FORT COLLINS – Colorado Springs area swimmers are ready to make a splash at the Class 5A state meet.

Two-time 100-yard freestyle champion Jenna Gregoire of Rampart is among those beginning competition this afternoon at the Edora Pool Ice Center.

Gregoire also will compete in the 50 free, where she took fourth last year. Teammate Kyrene Clark is looking to improve on her runner-up finish in the 100 breaststroke last year.

The Rams, along with Air Academy and Doherty, qualified all three relay teams – 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free. Coronado has teams in the 200 medley and 200 free relays.

Palmer’s Amanda Jennings, the only Terror to advance to state, will have to wait until Saturday morning, when the diving prelims begin.
