A woman accused of embezzling more than $113,000 from the Cimarron Hills Fire Department was arrested Wednesday.

Theresa Klein is accused of stealing the money over a three-year period beginning in 2005. As the administrative assistant, she had sole responsibility for managing the department’s finances and keeping records. She was fired in 2008 after financial discrepancies were discovered.

The 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office served Klein her arrest warrant, said Lt. Lari Sevene, El Paso County Sheriff’s spokeswoman.
