A 68-year-old woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after pulling a gun on police officers called to the house to check into her welfare, police said.

Virginia McNamura’s neighbors called police after McNamura threatened suicide and stopped answering the phone or door. When police arrived at her home, in the 2900 block of Illinois Avenue, McNamura threatened the officers with a handgun, police said.

SWAT responded, and McNamura eventually came out of the house. She was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault on a police officer.
