BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Hanover 54, Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind 42
At Hanover: Bryant Smith scored a game-high 18 points and Ryan Peterson chipped in nine, but they couldn’t lift the Bulldogs (3-6). Caleb Million, Quinton Quaney, and Chris Davis all scored in double digits for Hanover (2-8).
Manitou Springs 62, Peyton 47
At Peyton: The Mustangs outscored Peyton (3-7) by eleven in the third quarter to cement their lead, and Ronnie Bohnert hit six 3-pointers for Manitou Springs (8-3) to finish with a game-high 22 points. Aaron Smith led Peyton with 13 points.
Vista Ridge 78, Discovery Canyon 70
At Vista Ridge: Vista Ridge’s 28 second-quarter points proved too big an obstacle for the Thunder (5-4), who only managed 14. Ricky Buchanan’s 24 points led Vista Ridge (4-8), while McKay Lyman (17 points) and Kyle Pilipovich (15 points) led Discovery Canyon.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Vista Ridge 42, Discovery Canyon 37
At Discovery Canyon: Kailey Lucky’s 14 points led Vista Ridge (11-0), which outscored Discovery Canyon (7-4) by eight in the third quarter.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Fountain Valley 92, Manitou Springs 78
At Manitou Springs: Alanna Erickson won the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly, and helped the Danes’ 200 medley relay to a win as Fountain Valley won all three relays. The Mustang’s Sara Ryttberg was first in both the 50 and 100 freestyle, while Fountain Valley’s Cassie Eppler won the 500 free and participated in the winning 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Doherty 109, Coronado 77
At Doherty: Sarah James won both the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke for the Spartans while pitching in on the winning 200 medley and 400 free relay teams. Teammate Sophia Johnson anchored both the Spartans’ winning relays and won the 50 and 100 free. Coronado’s Taylor Kay won the 200 free, Allie Jacobs won the 500 free, and both swimmers participated in the Cougars win in the 200 free relay.
WRESTLING
Air Academy 51, Sand Creek 27
At Air Academy: Matt Meyer led the Kadets after he pinned his 160-pound opponent in 37 seconds. Air Academy’s Tim DeLory (130 pounds) and Derek Law (135 pounds) each pinned their opponents, while Sand Creek was led by Josh Hildreth’s 11-2 major decision over Joaquin Quintana.
Mesa Ridge 55, Mitchell 18
At Mesa Ridge: Philip Rhodes pinned his 171-pound opponent in 26 seconds while five other Grizzlies also pinned. Mitchell’s Braulio Mendez pinned his 285-pound opponent.
Coronado 46, Fountain-Fort Carson 21
At Fountain-Fort Carson: Five Cougars pinned their opponents to give Coronado the edge, including Nick Burghardt who pinned Dallas Fite in 4:09 in the 152-pound weight class. The Trojans were led by Tanner Keiley, who pinned his 189-pound opponent in 55 seconds.
Lewis-Palmer 56, Sierra 7
At Sierra: The Rangers won four weight classes by forfeit, while Steven Bell (145 pounds), Jaime Diaz (135 pounds), and Nate Rykerd (119 pounds) each pinned their opponents. Dae Hong led the Stallions with a 15-1 major decision over Ricky Anderson in the 125-pound weight class.
