BOYS’ BASKETBALL

Cheyenne Mountain 54, Widefield 36

At Widefield: The Indians got 20 points from Geoff Pippus, while Dustin Sisneros chipped in 16. Raymond Canty scored 10 to lead Widefield, which had no other players scoring in double digits.

 

Falcon 66, Harrison 49

At Harrison: Jared Wilson’s 25 points led Falcon, which outscored the Panthers 22-12 in the final quarter. Xavier Ford led Harrison with 14 points.

 

Mitchell 61, Wasson 60

At Mitchell: Mon’Darrius Benson scored just before time expired to give the Marauders the win after Wasson blew a first-half lead.

“We were up by 12 and we just lost our composure in the fourth quarter and got in foul trouble,” Wasson coach Damion Copeland said. “We let up on defense, and Mon’Darrius just drove it in on us there at the end.”

The Thunderbirds were led by Deven Bernett’s 21 points.

 

Cornerstone Christian 56, Colorado School for the Deaf and the Blind 34

At CSDB: Bryant Smith led all scorers with 20 points and added eight rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to lift the Bulldogs. Coltin King’s 19 points led Cornerstone Christian.

 

PPC 54, Front Range Christian 52

At Pikes Peak Christian: Caleb Smith scored with two seconds left to win it for the Eagles, who outscored Front Range 14-8 in the fourth quarter.

“Taylor Bigandt rimmed out a three right at the buzzer and that was it,” Pike Peak Christian coach Gary Geiger said. “This is our oldest rivalry, so both teams are always at their best.”

Front Range Christian’s six 3-pointers kept them in it, while  the Eagles depended on Segun Lipede’s 18 points.

 

Fountain-Fort Carson 86, Liberty 68

At Liberty: Wes McKenzie scored a game-high 31 points and added seven boards and six steals, but the Lancers couldn’t overcome a dominant third quarter performance by the Trojans. Chris Davis’ 21 points led Fountain-Fort Carson.

 

Salida 99, Monte Vista 19

At Salida: Ron Fore and James Bove each scored 25 points as Salida dominated visiting Monte Vista. Kristjian Malouff led Monte Vista with 7 points, while Salida saw production from 10 different players.

 

Doherty 53, Sand Creek 49

At Doherty: Quadrai Carter hit five 3-pointers, but the Scorpions couldn’t shut down Doherty’s Tyler Velasquez (22 points) and Dylan Sisneros (14 points).

 

Coronado 65, Pine Creek 56

At Pine Creek: The Eagles couldn’t hold onto a 2-point halftime lead and were outscored 21-7 in the third quarter. The Cougars counted on Ben Foley (20 points) and Eric Rayer (18 points), while Pine Creek’s Cole Cordova scored 15.

 

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Mesa Ridge 64, Woodland Park 36

At Woodland Park: Three Grizzlies scored in double digits, including Kaitlyn Mileto (19 points) and Leanndra Gilbert (16 points). Emily Gammill and Tessie Koziol each scored eight to lead the Panthers.

 

Sand Creek 55, Doherty 44

At Sand Creek: Taylor Proctor’s 19 points and 19 rebounds helped the Scorpions dominate the paint.

“She was a huge factor,” Sand Creek coach Autumn Sereno said. “We were prepared for them to drive hard, and we needed to pull down those rebounds. We got some great work from our bench with players like Jessie Lingold stepping up to pull down those shots.”

Proctor, who also had six blocks and six assists, was helped out by Jade McIntosh with 13 points. Angela Vigil led Doherty with 12 points while Talia Cunningham added nine.

 

Fountain-Fort Carson 44, Liberty 35

At Fountain-Fort Carson: D’Shara Strange scored 15 and Renata Rankin added 12 to lead the Trojans, who held on to a 29-18 halftime lead. Haley Roe scored seven for the Lancers.

 

Fowler 42, Fountain Valley 20

At Fountain Valley: Kim Donaldson’s six points, 12 blocks, and 10 rebounds led the Danes, who also depended on Alex Ochoa and Baylee McIntyre, who each had five points and eight rebounds.

 

GIRLS’ SWIMMING

Rampart 223, Liberty 85

At Rampart: Kyrene Clarke, Katie Smisson, Carli Snyder and Jenna Gregoire each won individual races and took part in winning relays for the Rams. Liberty freshman Courtney Reed won the 200-yard individual medley.

 

Doherty 99, Fountain-Fort Carson 74

At Fountain-Fort Carson: Jenna Samora won the 100 breaststroke and 100 butterfly and anchored the winning 200 freestyle relay team to lead the Trojans. Doherty’s Hannah Ali and Darian Sanchez took part in the first-place 400 freestyle team and won the 200 free and 50 free, respectively.
