This week’s peak performer: Kyle Lachner, Lewis-Palmer

Lewis-Palmer’s Kyle Lachner has quite a legacy he’s chasing.

Lachner’s brother, Travis, scored 40 career goals for the Rangers’ hockey team, but Kyle is determined to take his place in the school records. Lachner made great progress on Friday night, scoring four times — including two short-handed tallies — to help the unbeaten Rangers notch a 5-2 win over Doherty.

“It’s definitely on my mind,” the junior center said of overtaking his brother for second place in school history. “I think I only have 12 so far, so I’ve got a long way to go. But it’s not impossible.”

Lachner added another goal and an assist during Lewis-Palmer’s 8-2 win over Mullen on Saturday, making him the team’s scoring leader with nine goals and 15 points.
