BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Thomas Jefferson 62, Widefield 41
At Widefield: Brent Garretson didn’t hide his disappointment after his Gladiators’ performance Tuesday.
“I didn’t feel like we played like we’ve been practicing,” Garretson said.
Matt Sweitzer led Widefield with eight points.
The Gladiators (4-4) will have a chance to improve their performance Thursday when they play at Castle View.
Pikes Peak 3A-A No. 4 Manitou Springs 58, St. Mary’s 30
At Manitou Springs: Coach Ken Vechhio was proud of the defensive play of Jake Bockhorst and Cole McQueeney, who kept St. Mary’s high-scorer Brent Harder to 11 points.
“We played as good defensively as we’ve ever played” Vechhio said.
McQueeney scored 15 points for Manitou Springs, which goes to 6-2 with the win.
Pikes Peak 5A-4A No. 1 Fountain-Fort Carson 70, Sand Creek 68
At Sand Creek: Cordero Warren and Dammian Terry both scored 15 points for the Scorpians in their heartbreaking loss.
Palmer 68, Coronado 47
At Coronado: Andre Brown poured in 15 points for the victors while teammate Terrell Brown added 13.
“I tip my hat to Palmer,” Coronado interim coach Brian Blanc said. “They played well.
The third quarter was key for the Terrors, as they outscored their opponents 17-8.
Wasson 63, Palmer Ridge 59
At Wasson: Deven Bernett scored 19 points while teammate Dexter Jackson added 15 for the Thunderbirds in their victory.
“We played hard and we played together,” coach Damion Copeland said, “That was what was most important.”
Air Academy 62, Pine Creek 50
At Air Academy: Alex Cannon had 20 points, including four three-pointers, for the Eagles in their loss.
GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
Pikes Peak 5A-4A No. 2 Palmer 47, Coronado 21
At Palmer: Taylor Torres poured in 16 points and provided six assists for the Terrors as they improved their record to 8-0.
Doherty 54, Rampart 49
At Rampart: Taylor Simpson scored 15 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the victors.
Pikes Peak 3A-A No. 1 Colorado Springs Christian School 60, Peyton 31
At Peyton: Brianne VandeGriend had 22 points for the Lions as they crushed the Panthers.
GIRLS’ SWIMMING
Air Academy 122, Liberty 63
Andrea Rice and Katie Reid both had individual wins for Air Academy, with Rice taking first in the 100-yard freestyle and Reid taking first in the 100 butterfly. The duo also swam on the winning 200-yard freestyle relay.
