Head-on collision kills 1, injures 5 north of Cripple Creek

A woman was killed and five people were injured Tuesday afternoon in a head-on collision on Highway 67 north of Cripple Creek.

The crash occurred about 4 p.m. The woman, whose name and age were not released Tuesday night, was in a Chevy Impala that collided with a Dodge Nitro.

Three people were airlifted to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs; two others suffered minor injuries; and another person was uninjured, said Trooper David Hall, Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

No information on what caused the crash was released Tuesday.

Highway 67 was closed in both directions until shortly after 7:30 p.m., and traffic was diverted on Teller County roads.
