This week’s Peak Performer: Geoff Pippus, Cheyenne Mountain
Cheyenne Mountain’s Geoff Pippus has become a sharpshooter on the basketball court.
The senior guard is shooting better than 60 percent from 3-point range, and scored 40 points during the Indians 74-58 win over Cañon City on Friday night.
“My sophomore year, I started hitting some threes, and so they kind of had me start sitting out there,” Pippus said. “I have just practiced a ton and tried to improve my accuracy.”
Pippus scored 24 points in the first quarter alone against the Tigers, and has been in double digits in three other games.
Quick Hits
Which bowl game are you most interested to see?The championship game. I’ll probably root for Alabama.
Best holiday movie? We always watch the claymation Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.
Something not too many people know? I am really hyped up on the court, so I think people are surprised how laid back I am otherwise. I just like to hang out with my friends and play guitar sometimes.
College or pro player that you try to emulate? Steve Nash. I was born in Canada, so I like him a lot.
