TRINIDAD • Andrew Cornella saw the door close on his chance to improve upon last year’s second-place finish in the Class 3A state golf championship on the final hole.

Cornella, representing St. Mary’s, fell by one stroke to Peter Hassan of Alexander Dawson after trailing by as many as seven at Cougar Canyon Golf Resort on Tuesday.
